Baptiste Grangeon
"Me and my brother, Baptiste, are the third generation of our family working at Domaine de Cristia. We started working here back in 1999, taking over from my father. The soils were in excellent condition thanks to Dad's biodynamic conception of agriculture. But trying to change old mentalities was a challenge! After our first few vintages, we really found our own style in 2003. That vintage produced some wonderful wine, and The Wine Advocate called us the 'New Superstars from Chateaueuf-du-Pape'. Winemaking is something I'm truly passionate about. And I love working with my brother Baptiste, who is an engine of energy, ideas, positivity and reassurance. But if I wasn't making wine, I'd be a professor of history, or an intrepid explorer a la Indiana Jones!"

I was disappointed in the Cristia wines that I had from you. Although they are offering wines whose names are from the area around them, they are not domaine bottled and that is something I would normally avoid if I was buying in a shop. These wines simply reinforced that stance.

While it doesn't match the value for money of the Grenache, this is my favourite Cristia wine.

Medium bodied, ripe black fruit, the addition of the Mourvedre grape adds some savoury / spice notes with a hint of liqurice coming through behind. It's quite smooth but could still age for a year or so, best drunk with food to soften the tannins on the finish. <br />

Had a second bottle of this recently. It was very good nicely balanced with some complexity to make it interesting. We drunk it with a roasted shoulder of venison and that was very nice indeed
