Small and Small Sylvia's Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2010
This sauvignon blanc is fabulous! The acid/fruit balance is spot on with a wonderful fresh pineapple aroma. We are devouring it at a rate of knots. So far it has worked really well with chicken casserole, butternut squash risotto and on it's own. A brilliant wine I cannot recommend highly enough.

Canepa Reserva Privada Carmenere 2009
When you start to want to look at serious wines, you could do worse than start here. The Carmenere grape was though extinct due to the Phylloxera plague in 1867, but has been found again in Chile. The wines are quite young but have make an interesting change to everyday Cabernet. They will improve with age, stick one in a cool dark place for a few years and see for your self ;-)

I cannot believe that this only has 3.5 average stars. I normally don't do Rioja but OH MY GOD. I rated a 5, for only the 2nd time out of 30 wines. The only thing I can think is that not many people decanter and leave to breathe for long enough. Thanks to Lee for recommending this to me
