OK Folks. I am opening this to all comers for suggestions. I am providing wine (and reasons for the choices in detail!) for an intimate dinner (40th birthday present to a man who has everything). The menu is as follows:
Pre-dinner fizz (Easy one - Moutard or Claude Baron)
1st course - Anti-pasti. Very Italian style with meats and olives etc. (2 contrasting yet fitting wines needed)
2nd course - Steak. Probably rib-eye plus trimmings. (3 suitable yet different wines needed)
3rd course - Creme Brulee (2 wines needed)
4th course - Cheese (2 wines needed. Thinking one stonking red and a dessert)
Any suggestions welcome, especially from those who have matched similar dishes successfully in the past!
